Hope your week is off to a good start. Jewish new year started Sunday night so I had a big meal with my family. I totally forgot to take pictures of the food but I did manage to remember dessert!

Honey Cake:
This is a recipe that we’ve made every year for as long as I can remember. I’m not sure where the original recipe came from but I have posted about it before on my blog (post here).
It’s a really nice cake, super soft and fluffy. The honey flavour is very nice and the whiskey in there (not a crazy amount) cuts the sweetness a bit. The best part is the sprinkle of almonds on top.

Apple Cake:
This was a recipe we made for the first time. Apples (and honey) are a traditional food to eat on this holiday so it’s perfect to use them in a cake. Link to the recipe is here.
There are 3 cups of apples inside (and on top) of this cake so every bite has a piece of fruit. There is also warm cinnamon and nutmeg for flavour. The final touch was a simple glaze which I made, but it somehow melted into the cake. Not sure what happened there but it still tasted pretty good.
