Classic Apple Crisp

Looking for a classic and always delicious dessert? Apple crisp is the way to go!

To me, there are two keys to a great crisp:

  1. Large chunks of apples. If you cut your apples too small, they will be overbaked and mushy by the time it comes out of the oven. I like when they still have a little bite.
  2. Good amount of crumble. Do not skimp on the crumble! It gets toasted when it bakes and tastes incredible.

Today’s crumble recipe comes from The Chunky Chef (link here). It followed my two key points from above so I loved it. Regarding the apples, the recipe says to chop them, which can be a little vague, but I cut mine into about 1″ cubes.

The crumble topping was made with oats, flour brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt. It was so buttery and delicious. I really like that there was cinnamon in both the topping and the apples. You can really feel the fall flavours.

This crumble was perfect warm from the oven with a little ice cream, such a great dessert! It was also delicious cold, the next day. Eating it cold almost made it feel like I was having my typical overnight oats (but with a little more sugar haha). But warm or cold, you will love this recipe!
