Smoothie bowls are a combination of regular smoothies and yogurt parfaits. They’re a great way to incorporate lots of fruit and healthy toppings into your breakfast.
My bowl had a base of strawberry and blueberry smoothie which had a really nice colour. I used sweetened vanilla yogurt so I did not add any honey or maple syrup to that. It was super thick (from the frozen fruit), so it supported all the toppings nicely. You can put whatever you want on top – more fruit, cereal, nuts, seeds – but I chose granola, sliced almonds, shredded coconut and fresh strawberries.
This was such a light and refreshing breakfast, it would be perfect on a summer day. It was also super easy to make, can’t go wrong. If you’re in a hurry though, you could just make the smoothie base, add extra milk to get it to a drinkable consistency, then pour it into a travel mug.
