For those who don’t know, shakshuka is an israeli dish of eggs poached in a chunky tomato sauce, and you eat it with toast. It might sound a little weird, but it tastes delicious!
I have never made it before but it turned out really well and it’s a great way to switch up your everyday breakfast. It’s also super simple to make.
All you have to do is start by cooking some onion and garlic in a pot then add some chopped tomatoes and let those soften. Then you add some crushed tomatoes, a bit of ketchup and tons of seasoning (salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, chili flakes, paprika and dried parsley). Just let that simmer for like 5 minutes then gently drop your eggs into the sauce. Put a lid on it and let it bubble away for about 10 minutes, until the egg whites are opaque but the yolk still feels soft.
To serve, toast up some bread and dice some avocado. You can also put some feta cheese if you’d like.
This was a really good start to my day and I will definitely make it again. Let me know if you try it for yourself!
