Beef and broccoli is such an easy and classic chinese food dish so I was excited to make it. It’s super simple and delicious. It took no time to prep and only about 15 minutes to cook. It was a nice weeknight dinner, served over steamed rice.
The recipe called for nice flavourful ingredients like garlic, ginger and hoisin sauce so I was hopeful it would turn out well. However, when I sat down to eat the cooked meal (which looked pretty similar to the picture in the book), I was a little let down. The flavours that were in the marinade and sauce didn’t totally come through. It needed more hoisin and more spice, so I added those to my portion as I was eating. I would definitely make it again, with my adjustments. But all in all, it was a good dish that came together very quickly.
Final thoughts: decent beef and broccoli, just needed a little more flavour boosters at the end.
