Crunchy Tofu

If you’re like me, you always try to make new things using the same old ingredients. So yesterday, I made these crunchy tofu sticks and they turned out fantastic.

All you need to do is cut a block of FIRM tofu into sticks and press it for about 30 minutes (just put paper towel and a cast iron pan on top). That step is very important because it brings out a lot of water from the tofu and makes it less squishy. Once that is done, I made an egg wash and breading, which I added a little seasoning too. You just dip each stick into the egg, and coat it generously with breadcrumbs, then place them on a greased baking sheet. I also sprayed the tops of them with a little oil spray.

I baked mine at 400° for about 15 minutes, flipped them, then another 15 minutes until they were golden and crispy. I made a little honey mustard dipping sauce to serve with them, but you could use any dip you like!

You can easily make this recipe using chicken breast, or even zucchini pieces. It is a simple way to give your food a nice crunch, without frying.
